Hi.
Nice to know you are interested in participating. Now, we would like you to choose a map to include in the pool of maps. We request you to choose a reasonable map in the sense that either it is a frequently played map or a map which is very simple and can be learned very quickly by other teams. It would be nice if it were a frequently played map though. Some of the teams have made their selection and hence the maps in the pool are as follows

1) Oasago
2) oa_ctf2
3) mlctf1beta

Even though mlctf1beta is not a map regularly played, it is very simple and can be easily mastered very fast. Hence we accepted it for its simplicity.
Please let us know by Saturday the map you choose. For your convenience we provide the following link to download mlctf1beta map

The voting process for the map to be removed from the pool has been completed. Here are a look at the results:

3 votes for bubctf1 (J9,uM,6R)
1 vote for speedyctf (oaN)
1 vote for oa_ctf2 (RN)
2 no votes (SupeR, SC)

Since the organizers had to choose some of the maps, it was decided that team Valherus should not participate in the voting process. In any case there is a clear majority and bubctf1 has been voted out of the pool.

MATCHUPS AND MAPS
Jack Thompson (Most recently known for his 'No more missing textures' texture pack gpl-q3a2oa-textures.pk3 in use by many servers) was asked to write a script to randomly select the matchups and the maps to go along with them. This was his result.

8 Teams and 8 Maps

Match1: J9 vs SuperBots on oasago2
Match2: RN vs 6r on oa_ctf2
Match3: Um vs /V/ on q3wcp9
Match4: SC vs Oan on *speedyctf

SemiFinals1: Winner Match1 vs Winner Match2 on ps37ctf
SemiFinals2: Winner Match3 vs Winner Match4 on pul1ctf

Final: Winner SemiFinals1 vs Winner SemiFinals2 on mlctf1beta

*Jack thompson had all 8 maps in his pool when he ran his script and bubctf1 was selected for Match4 with speedyctf being the map left out. As bubctf1 has been voted out, speedyctf replaced it.

Note: Evil team is on standby, and in case any team is not able to make it, Evil team will be replacing them in the tournament.

In case of any questions or clarifications please contact /V/Specious aka /V/DeadlyNoOB or /V/sns, or post a reply here.

Congratulations to J9 for winning the first edition of the OA CTF knockout cup organized by team Valherus. Here the match summaries and results: dw

Match1: J9 vs SuperBots on oasago2 (J9 moves on as Super bots didn't participate in the tournament)
Match2: RN vs 6r on oa_ctf2 (6r wins 8-1)
Match3: Um vs /V/ on q3wcp9 (/V/ wins 7-5)
Match4: Evil(Replaced SC) vs oaN on speedyctf (oaN wins 8-0)

SemiFinals1: J9 vs 6R on ps37ctf (J9 wins 6-4)
SemiFinals2: /V/ vs oaN on pul1ctf (/V/ wins 5-1)

Final: J9 vs /V/ on mlctf1beta (J9 wins 1-0)

The demos and screenshots will be posted soon.

We'd like to send special thanks to the following players

Alma (For providing the best server in oa for us to play on each day, Nemesis)

Jack Thomspon for doing the matchups and the map selection for each match with his randomizer script.

PopeJo and Cyberdemon (For allowing us the use of the RN and OA knockout servers, but for also supporting us all throughout the planning and execution of the event)

Billgates (For allowing us the use of the Oan server)

Gerbil and RoseWine (For refereeing matches after being asked to on the spot)

All the teams that participated (RN,Um,6r,Evil,J9,Oan) - The tournament obviously couldn't have been a success without you.

FUTURE

We'd like teams to suggest improvements for possible future tournaments. Not every suggestion will be incorporated but we think the next tournament can be even better with your help so feel free to add your suggestion to this thread.

Thanks! Other game modes (e.g. TDM, CA, FreezeTag) would be great in the future, too! And perhaps a longer tournament with double elimination so no team would end up with only 1 game? :)
